North Devon Council is supporting a major energy efficiency campaign that could help thousands of homeowners across the district cut their heating bills, whilst keeping their homes warmer.
The campaign is being driven by Enact Energy to provide free loft and cavity wall insulation, subject to a free, no obligation home assessment. By carrying out the insulation works, it is thought eligible households could benefit from reduced heating bills by as much as £310^ per year.
As part of the initiative, households that are also on
qualifying income related benefits, such as state pension credit, disability premium or for those receiving child tax credit with a household annual income under £16,190, could also be eligible for £200* cash incentive.
Councillor Faye Webber, Executive Member for Housing, says: “This is the first time ever that we have launched an initiative of this type in North Devon, which is open to both homeowners and private tenants. And it’s come at the right time, as heating prices have risen sharply in the last year, impacting on households in the area significantly.
“We are delighted to be supporting Enact Energy to provide free cavity wall and loft insulation across North Devon and hope the campaign will encourage people to come forward to take advantage of the free assessments to check if they’re eligible.”
Since being launched in1996, Cornwall based Enact has undertaken home insulation improvements in more than 300,000 homes across the UK, which has helped to save over 14 million tonnes of CO2 and reduced energy bills by millions of pounds.
The free energy efficiency campaign runs in North Devon until 30 June 2012. To find out if you can benefit from the insulation campaign, contact the Enact Energy for free on 0800 093 40 50 or visit www.enactenergy.com/NDC
